GF/DF Bechamel Sauce
A gluten-free & dairy-free version
of the classic French white sauce
Just because you have to be gluten and dairy free doesn't mean you can't enjoy a good creamy sauce.
Try this version of the classic French white sauce, called "bechamel", which is 100% gluten and dairy free.
Ingredients:

1 Tbsp vegan margarine

1 Tbsp gluten-free 1-to-1 flour blend

1 cup gluten-free oat milk (If you can't find it at the store, you can make your own. (Click here for the recipe.)

1/2 to 1 tsp salt

pinch of nutmeg

Directions:

In a small saucepan, melt the margarine over medium-high heat.

Add flour and whisk vigorously to make a paste. Turn the heat down to low.
​
Gradually add the oat milk, a little at a time, whisking well after each addition.
Stir in the salt and nutmeg. Adjust seasonings to taste.

This recipe makes about 1 cup of bechamel sauce. This recipe is easily doubled, if desired.
